The Aspen Tree consists of three partners, established in 2015 to design a website for Heywood following a successful funding bid to the Heywood Township Committee to fund the project for the first three years. At the end of the initial three years it is proposed that any profit generated from the project be used for the benefit of Heywood and Heywood based charities and that the website continue to be sustainable from advertising revenue.
The three partners of the team all originate from Heywood, were educated at Siddal Moor High School and have valued this opportunity to contribute to improving the town of Heywood for those who live, work and visit Heywood.
We would welcome any suggestions as to what should be included within the Heywood Town Website and invite interested ones who feel they can contribute in any way to the content to contact us.
Sandra attained the AMPSPAR (Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Administrators and Receptionists) Diploma at Salford College of Technology and following this went on to gain a strong administrative background of 25 years in the NHS working at Manchester Children’s Hospital and Pennine Acute NHS Trust in the Women & Children’s Division in a variety of roles including a supervisory position. She has worked for 10 years as a self-employed, sole trader delivering PA services including medical transcription outsourcing and proof reading on a national basis.
Sandra lives in Heywood and her business is based in Hopwood, Heywood. She has a passion for improving the local amenities and creating opportunities for residents of the town in particular young people.
As the Chair and founder of a local registered charity - The Friends of Hopwood Park Sandra has established strong working relationships with other local charities, voluntary groups, organisations and local businesses in Heywood (ie., Heywood Activities Partnership, RADPAC, Heywood in Bloom). Her local knowledge acquired in this capacity has led to the identification of the need for a modern, well managed website for Heywood to provide a platform for information useful to visitors to the town and to residents living in the town. The aim of the website will also be to provide the means to co-ordinate and publicise events, advertise local businesses and link community groups.
Sandra will be responsible for overall administration, marketing to local businesses, charities and organisations and editing of the site content. This will require obtaining feedback from various organisations and users as to what they feel a town website should offer.
Mark attended Manchester University from 2003 until 2007 and graduated with a BSc in Computer Science with Industrial Experience. He worked at Manchester-based online retailer Expansys as a Software Engineer whilst on placement at University, and was invited to continue his employment after graduating, where he remained for a further five years.
